BCC Boyz Fantasy Football League
Well, the draft has taken place, so who has the best team? After analyzing all of the teams, I would have to say that the Jekyll Island Jaguars, led by team manager Scott Limerick, have to be a strong contender. They had the highest total team average and that was counting the Eagles Donovan McNabb's injury filled 2005 stats. If he bounces back this year, JIJ will be hard to beat. And the trade for 1000 yard receiver Chris Chambers doesn't hurt his chances either. He gave up rookie Mike Bell and Julius Peppers. Yes, Peppers is one of the most, if not the most, dominant defensive players in the NFL, but when it comes to Fantasy League he averaged less than 5 points per game. Hardly earth shattering even for defensive players who produce much lower point totals than offensive players. With LaDainian Thompson leading the offense and RB Reuben Droughns who had over 1500 yards rushing and receiving, his backfield looks really strong. WR's Torry Holt and Chambers both averaged over 10 points per game, so the Jags are strong their as well.
When you look at the Jags defense, it looks like the rest of us were asleep draft day. They have the #1 rated LB in Jonathan Vilma, the #1 S in Adrian Wilson, the #1 CB in Charles Tillman, and the #1 kicker in the Cardinal's Neil Rackers. How the heck did that happen? I have to admit Limerick is pretty sharp, but come on...#1's at every defensive position? Somebody kick me.
His backups include 3 QB's and 3 RB's. Some of the fellas probably wish they had Dante Culpepper as their starter. He has looked pretty good during the preseason. DeShaun Foster, if he can stay healthy, could be a top RB, but that is highly unlikely given his past. Nice job Scott with drafting a mighty fine club. I'll rate some of the other leading teams with my next post.
Before I sign off I have to mention our new team name. The Big Pimpin' Turtles. Watch out for the BPT's because they will compete! Check out the team logo. Peace Out!
